ٱلْحَشْر : ٢١

  • لَوۡ If
  • أَنزَلۡنَا We (had) sent down
  • هَٰذَا this
  • ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ Quran
  • عَلَىٰ on
  • جَبَلٖ a mountain
  • لَّرَأَيۡتَهُۥ surely you (would) have seen it
  • خَٰشِعٗا humbled
  • مُّتَصَدِّعٗا breaking asunder
  • مِّنۡ from
  • خَشۡيَةِ (the) fear
  • ٱللَّهِۚ (of) Allah
  • وَتِلۡكَ And these
  • ٱلۡأَمۡثَٰلُ (are) the examples
  • نَضۡرِبُهَا We present them
  • لِلنَّاسِ to the people
  • لَعَلَّهُمۡ so that they may
  • يَتَفَكَّرُونَ give thought
If We had sent down this Qur’ān upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and splitting from fear of Allāh. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.
Had We sent down this Qur'aan upon a mountain, and had it [the mountain] been endowed with a faculty of discernment like man, you would have surely seen it humbled, rent asunder by the fear of God. And such similitudes, as those mentioned - do We strike for mankind, that perhaps they may reflect, and so become believers.
