ٱلتَّوْبَة : ٣٥

  • يَوۡمَ (The) Day
  • يُحۡمَىٰ it will be heated [on it]
  • عَلَيۡهَا it will be heated [on it]
  • فِي in
  • نَارِ the Fire
  • جَهَنَّمَ (of) Hell
  • فَتُكۡوَىٰ and will be branded
  • بِهَا with it
  • جِبَاهُهُمۡ their foreheads
  • وَجُنُوبُهُمۡ and their flanks
  • وَظُهُورُهُمۡۖ and their backs
  • هَٰذَا This
  • مَا (is) what
  • كَنَزۡتُمۡ you hoarded
  • لِأَنفُسِكُمۡ for yourselves
  • فَذُوقُواْ so taste
  • مَا what
  • كُنتُمۡ you used to
  • تَكۡنِزُونَ hoard
The Day when it1 will be heated in the fire of Hell and seared therewith will be their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, [it will be said], "This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard."

1 - The gold and silver which was hoarded, i.e., whose zakāh was not paid.
On the day when it shall be heated in the fire of Hell and therewith their foreheads and their sides and their backs shall be branded, burnt - their skins will be stretched until these [hoards of gold and silver] can be placed on them entirely, and it will be said to them: 'This is what you hoarded up for yourselves: so taste now what you used to hoard!', that is, [taste] its requital.
