Word by Word
وَلَئِنۡ
And verily, if
أَذَقۡنَٰهُ
We let him taste
رَحۡمَةٗ
mercy
مِّنَّا
from Us
مِنۢ
after
بَعۡدِ
after
ضَرَّآءَ
an adversity
مَسَّتۡهُ
(has) touched him
لَيَقُولَنَّ
he will surely say
هَٰذَا
This (is)
لِي
(due) to me
وَمَآ
and not
أَظُنُّ
I think
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
the Hour
قَآئِمَةٗ
(will be) established
وَلَئِن
and if
رُّجِعۡتُ
I am returned
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّيٓ
my Lord
إِنَّ
indeed
لِي
for me
عِندَهُۥ
with Him
لَلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ
(will be) the best
فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ
But We will surely inform
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواْ
disbelieved
بِمَا
about what
عَمِلُواْ
they did
وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم
and We will surely make them taste
مِّنۡ
of
عَذَابٍ
a punishment
غَلِيظٖ
severe

Translation

When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty.
