Ayah

Word by Word
لَآ
(There is) no
إِكۡرَاهَ
compulsion
فِي
in
ٱلدِّينِۖ
the religion
قَد
Surely
تَّبَيَّنَ
has become distinct
ٱلرُّشۡدُ
the right (path)
مِنَ
from
ٱلۡغَيِّۚ
the wrong
فَمَن
Then whoever
يَكۡفُرۡ
disbelieves
بِٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ
in false deities
وَيُؤۡمِنۢ
and believes
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
فَقَدِ
then surely
ٱسۡتَمۡسَكَ
he grasped
بِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِ
the handhold
ٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰ
[the] firm
لَا
(which) not
ٱنفِصَامَ
(will) break
لَهَاۗ
[for it]
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
سَمِيعٌ
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knowing

Translation

Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
