Yunus: 12

Ayah

Word by Word
وَإِذَا
And when
مَسَّ
touches
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ
the man
ٱلضُّرُّ
the affliction
دَعَانَا
he calls Us
لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ
(lying) on his side
أَوۡ
or
قَاعِدًا
sitting
أَوۡ
or
قَآئِمٗا
standing
فَلَمَّا
But when
كَشَفۡنَا
We remove
عَنۡهُ
from him
ضُرَّهُۥ
his affliction
مَرَّ
he passes on
كَأَن
as if he
لَّمۡ
(had) not
يَدۡعُنَآ
called Us
إِلَىٰ
for
ضُرّٖ
(the) affliction
مَّسَّهُۥۚ
(that) touched him
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
زُيِّنَ
(it) is made fair seeming
لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
to the extravagant
مَا
what
كَانُواْ
they used (to)
يَعۡمَلُونَ
do

Translation

When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes!
