مَرْيَم : ٨٧

  • لَّا Not
  • يَمۡلِكُونَ they will have the power
  • ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ (of) the intercession
  • إِلَّا except
  • مَنِ (he) who
  • ٱتَّخَذَ has taken
  • عِندَ from
  • ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ the Most Gracious
  • عَهۡدٗا a covenant
None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant.1

They, namely, mankind, will not have the power to intercede, save him who has made a covenant with the Compassionate One, [the covenant being] the profession of laa ilaaha illaa'Llaah wa-laa hawla wa-laa quwwata illaa bi'Llaah, 'there is no god but God, and there is no power or strength except in God'.
