ٱلْبَقَرَة : ٢٢٦

  • لِّلَّذِينَ For those who
  • يُؤۡلُونَ swear (off)
  • مِن from
  • نِّسَآئِهِمۡ their wives
  • تَرَبُّصُ (is a) waiting (of)
  • أَرۡبَعَةِ four
  • أَشۡهُرٖۖ months
  • فَإِن then if
  • فَآءُو they return
  • فَإِنَّ then indeed
  • ٱللَّهَ Allah
  • غَفُورٞ (is) Oft- Forgiving
  • رَّحِيمٞ Most Merciful
For those who swear not to have sexual relations with their wives1 is a waiting time of four months, but if they return [to normal relations] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
Footnotes
1 - Without divorcing them. By such an oath the woman is deprived of her right in marriage but is not free to marry another. She may not be kept in such a condition beyond the four-month limit.
For those who forswear their women, by swearing that they will not have sexual intercourse with them, a wait of four months; if they revert, back from the oath, or repeal it and resume sexual relations, God is Forgiving, of the harm they caused their women by swearing, Merciful, to them.
