Al-Kahf: 18

Ayah

Word by Word
وَتَحۡسَبُهُمۡ
And you (would) think them
أَيۡقَاظٗا
awake
وَهُمۡ
while they
رُقُودٞۚ
(were) asleep
وَنُقَلِّبُهُمۡ
And We turned them
ذَاتَ
to
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
the right
وَذَاتَ
and to
ٱلشِّمَالِۖ
the left
وَكَلۡبُهُم
while their dog
بَٰسِطٞ
stretched
ذِرَاعَيۡهِ
his two forelegs
بِٱلۡوَصِيدِۚ
at the entrance
لَوِ
If
ٱطَّلَعۡتَ
you had looked
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
at them
لَوَلَّيۡتَ
you (would) have surely turned back
مِنۡهُمۡ
from them
فِرَارٗا
(in) flight
وَلَمُلِئۡتَ
and surely you would have been filled
مِنۡهُمۡ
by them
رُعۡبٗا
(with) terror

Translation

Thou wouldst have deemed them awake, whilst they were asleep, and We turned them on their right and on their left sides: their dog stretching forth his two fore-legs on the threshold: if thou hadst come up on to them, thou wouldst have certainly turned back from them in flight, and wouldst certainly have been filled with terror of them.
