Ibrahim: 22

Ayah

Word by Word
وَقَالَ
And will say
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
the Shaitaan
لَمَّا
when
قُضِيَ
has been decided
ٱلۡأَمۡرُ
the matter
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَعَدَكُمۡ
promised you
وَعۡدَ
a promise
ٱلۡحَقِّ
(of) truth
وَوَعَدتُّكُمۡ
And I promised you
فَأَخۡلَفۡتُكُمۡۖ
but I betrayed you
وَمَا
But not
كَانَ
I had
لِيَ
I had
عَلَيۡكُم
over you
مِّن
any
سُلۡطَٰنٍ
authority
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
دَعَوۡتُكُمۡ
I invited you
فَٱسۡتَجَبۡتُمۡ
and you responded
لِيۖ
to me
فَلَا
So (do) not
تَلُومُونِي
blame me
وَلُومُوٓاْ
but blame
أَنفُسَكُمۖ
yourselves
مَّآ
Not
أَنَا۠
(can) I
بِمُصۡرِخِكُمۡ
(be) your helper
وَمَآ
and not
أَنتُم
you (can)
بِمُصۡرِخِيَّ
(be) my helper
إِنِّي
Indeed, I
كَفَرۡتُ
deny
بِمَآ
[of what]
أَشۡرَكۡتُمُونِ
your association of me (with Allah)
مِن
before
قَبۡلُۗ
before
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
لَهُمۡ
for them
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٞ
painful

Translation

And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty."
