يس : ٣٧

  • وَءَايَةٞ And a Sign
  • لَّهُمُ for them
  • ٱلَّيۡلُ (is) the night
  • نَسۡلَخُ We withdraw
  • مِنۡهُ from it
  • ٱلنَّهَارَ the day
  • فَإِذَا Then behold!
  • هُم They
  • مُّظۡلِمُونَ (are) those in darkness
And a sign for them is the night. We remove1 from it the [light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.
Footnotes
1 - Literally, "strip" or "peel." Sunlight projected onto the earth is removed from it as the earth turns and night approaches.
And a sign for them, of the tremendous power [of God], is the night, from which We strip, We separate, the day and, behold, they find themselves in darkness, passing into the darkness [of the night].
