Ayah

لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ

Translation

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence,-<br/>

Tafsir

Al-Bayyinah (the Evidence)<br/><br/>Meccan or Medinese, consisting of 8 verses.<br/><br/>The disbelievers from among (min: explicative) the People of the Scripture and the idolaters, that is, the idol-worshippers (wa'l-mushrikeena is a supplement to ahl, 'the People of') were not going to leave off (munfakkeena is the predicate of yakun, 'were'), that is to say, they were not going to abandon their ways, until the clear proof, namely, Muhammad may peace and salutation be upon him, should come to them, that is, [until] it came to them;
