ٱلْأَعْرَاف : ١٠١

  • تِلۡكَ These
  • ٱلۡقُرَىٰ (were) the cities
  • نَقُصُّ We relate
  • عَلَيۡكَ to you
  • مِنۡ of
  • أَنۢبَآئِهَاۚ their news
  • وَلَقَدۡ And certainly
  • جَآءَتۡهُمۡ came to them
  • رُسُلُهُم their Messengers
  • بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ with clear proofs
  • فَمَا but not
  • كَانُواْ they were
  • لِيُؤۡمِنُواْ to believe
  • بِمَا in what
  • كَذَّبُواْ they (had) denied
  • مِن from
  • قَبۡلُۚ before
  • كَذَٰلِكَ Thus
  • يَطۡبَعُ (has been) put a seal
  • ٱللَّهُ (by) Allah
  • عَلَىٰ on
  • قُلُوبِ (the) hearts
  • ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ (of) the disbelievers
Those cities - We relate to you, [O Muḥammad], some of their news. And certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before.1 Thus does Allāh seal over the hearts of the disbelievers.
Footnotes
1 - i.e., they persistently denied every warning given them.
Those towns, which have been mentioned, We relate to you, O Muhammad may peace and salutation be upon him, some of their tidings, [some of] the stories of their peoples. Verily their messengers brought them clear proofs, manifest miracles, but they would not believe, when these [signs]came to them, in what they had denied, disbelieved in, before, before these [signs] came to them; nay, they persisted in disbelief. Thus does God seal up the hearts of the disbelievers.
