Ayah

Word by Word
وَإِن
And indeed
يَكَادُ
would almost
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواْ
disbelieve
لَيُزۡلِقُونَكَ
surely make you slip
بِأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ
with their eyes
لَمَّا
when
سَمِعُواْ
they hear
ٱلذِّكۡرَ
the Message
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
لَمَجۡنُونٞ
(is) surely mad
وَإِن
And indeed
يَكَادُ
would almost
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُواْ
disbelieve
لَيُزۡلِقُونَكَ
surely make you slip
بِأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ
with their eyes
لَمَّا
when
سَمِعُواْ
they hear
ٱلذِّكۡرَ
the Message
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
لَمَجۡنُونٞ
(is) surely mad

Translation

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes [i.e., looks] when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."

Tafsir

Indeed those who disbelieve would almost throw you down [to the ground] (read la-yuzliqoonaka or layazliqoonaka) with their looks, looking at you in a severe way, almost hurling you to the ground or making you fall from your place, when they hear the Reminder, Al-Qur'an, and they say, out of envy: 'He is truly a madman!', on account of Al-Qur'an that he has brought.
