Ayah

ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ

Translation

The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.<br/>

Tafsir

Al-Qamar (the Moon)<br/><br/>Meccan, except for verse 45, which is Medinese; it consists of 55 verses.<br/><br/>The Hour has drawn near, the Resurrection is close at hand, and the moon has split, it broke in two at [Mount] Aboo Qubays and Qu'ayqa'aan, as a sign for the Prophet may peace and salutation be upon him, for it had been demanded of him, and [when it took place] he said, 'Bear witness [now]!' - as reported by the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhaaree and Muslim].
