ٱلصَّافَّات : ١٤٤

  • لَلَبِثَ Certainly he (would have) remained
  • فِي in
  • بَطۡنِهِۦٓ its belly
  • إِلَىٰ until
  • يَوۡمِ the Day
  • يُبۡعَثُونَ they are resurrected
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.1

1 - Meaning that the belly of the fish would have become his grave.
he would have tarried in its belly until the day when they are raised, in other words, the whale's belly would have been his tomb until the Day of Resurrection.
