وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ
We have sent you
إِلَّا
except
كَآفَّةٗ
inclusively
لِّلنَّاسِ
to mankind
بَشِيرٗا
(as) a giver of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرٗا
and (as) a warner
وَلَٰكِنَّ
But
أَكۡثَرَ
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
[the] people
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know
وَمَآ
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ
We have sent you
إِلَّا
except
كَآفَّةٗ

لِّلنَّاسِ
to mankind
بَشِيرٗا
(as) a giver of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرٗا
and (as) a warner
وَلَٰكِنَّ
But
أَكۡثَرَ
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
[the] people
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
know

Translation

We have not sent thee but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings, and warning them (against sin), but most men understand not.

Tafsir

And We did not send you except to all (kaaffatan is a circumstantial qualifier referring to al-naas, 'mankind', and is made to precede [li'l-naas] because of the importance attached to it) of mankind [both] as a bearer of good tidings, to believers, of the Paradise, and a warner, to the disbelievers, of chastisement, but most people, such as the disbelievers of Mecca, do not know, this.
