Ayah

Word by Word
لِيَكۡفُرُواْ
So that they may deny
بِمَآ
[in] what
ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ
We have given them
وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُواْۚ
and they may enjoy (themselves)
فَسَوۡفَ
But soon
يَعۡلَمُونَ
they will know
لِيَكۡفُرُواْ
So that they may deny
بِمَآ
[in] what
ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ
We have given them
وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُواْۚ
and they may enjoy (themselves)
فَسَوۡفَ
But soon
يَعۡلَمُونَ
they will know

Translation

So that they will deny what We have granted them, and they will enjoy themselves. But they are going to know.1
Footnotes
1 - Grammatically, the verse may also be read as a threat, i.e., "So let them deny what We have granted them and let them enjoy themselves, for they are going to know."

Tafsir

that they may be ungrateful for what We have bestowed on them, of graces, and that they may seek enjoyment, in consenting to worship idols together (a variant reading [for the purposive wa-li-yatamatta'oo] has wa'l-yatamatta'oo, 'and let them seek their enjoyment', as an imperative denoting a threat), for they will soon know!, the consequences of this.
