لَيَقُولُنَّ
Surely, they would say
ٱللَّهُۚ
Allah
قُلِ
Say
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
All Praises
لِلَّهِۚ
(are) for Allah
بَلۡ
But
أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعۡقِلُونَ
use reason
وَلَئِن
And if

Translation

And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, "Allah!" Say, "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not.

Tafsir

And if (wa-la-in: the laam is for oaths) you were to ask them, 'Who sends down water from the sky, and therewith revives the earth after its death?' They would assuredly say, 'God': so how can they ascribe partners to Him?! Say, to them: 'Praise be to God!', that the proof has been established against you. Nay, but most of them do not realise, their contradictiousness in this respect.
