وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ
And he was arrogant
هُوَ
And he was arrogant
وَجُنُودُهُۥ
and his hosts
فِي
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
بِغَيۡرِ
without
ٱلۡحَقِّ
right
وَظَنُّوٓاْ
and they thought
أَنَّهُمۡ
that they
إِلَيۡنَا
to Us
لَا
not
يُرۡجَعُونَ
will be returned
وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ
And he was arrogant
هُوَ
And he was arrogant
وَجُنُودُهُۥ
and his hosts
فِي
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
the land
بِغَيۡرِ
without
ٱلۡحَقِّ
right
وَظَنُّوٓاْ
and they thought
أَنَّهُمۡ
that they
إِلَيۡنَا
to Us
لَا
not
يُرۡجَعُونَ
will be returned

Translation

And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.

Tafsir

And he and his hosts acted arrogantly in the land, the land of Egypt, without right, and thought they would not return to Us (read active yarji'oona, or passive yurja'oona, 'they would [not] be brought back').
