وَمَا
And not (is)

any (thing)
غَآئِبَةٖ
hidden

ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
and the earth
إِلَّا
but
فِي
(is) in
كِتَٰبٖ
a Record
مُّبِينٍ
clear

Translation

Nor is there aught of the unseen, in heaven or earth, but is (recorded) in a clear record.

Tafsir

And there is not a thing hidden in the sky and the earth (the haa' [taa' marboota] of ghaa'ibatun is hyperbole, in other words, anything that is completely hidden from people) but it is in a manifest Book, namely, [in] the Preserved Tablet (al-lawh al-mahfooz) and in God's concealed knowledge, an example of which is the [time of the] chastising of the disbelievers.
