ٱلنَّمْل : ٦٨

  • لَقَدۡ Certainly
  • وُعِدۡنَا we have been promised
  • هَٰذَا this
  • نَحۡنُ we
  • وَءَابَآؤُنَا and our forefathers
  • مِن before
  • قَبۡلُ before
  • إِنۡ Not
  • هَٰذَآ (is) this
  • إِلَّآ except
  • أَسَٰطِيرُ tales
  • ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former (people)
We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples."
Already we and our fathers have been promised this before. [But] these are just the [legendary] fables of the ancients' (asaateer is the plural of ustoora, meaning 'what has been written down [maa sutira] of lies').
