ٱلْفُرْقَان : ٣٢

  • وَقَالَ And said
  • ٱلَّذِينَ those who
  • كَفَرُواْ disbelieve
  • لَوۡلَا Why not
  • نُزِّلَ was revealed
  • عَلَيۡهِ to him
  • ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ the Quran
  • جُمۡلَةٗ all at once
  • وَٰحِدَةٗۚ all at once
  • كَذَٰلِكَ Thus
  • لِنُثَبِّتَ that We may strengthen
  • بِهِۦ thereby
  • فُؤَادَكَۖ your heart
  • وَرَتَّلۡنَٰهُ and We have recited it
  • تَرۡتِيلٗا (with distinct) recitation
And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur’ān not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly.1
Footnotes
1 - Also, "recited it with distinct recitation."
And those who disbelieve say, 'Why has Al-Qur'an not been revealed to him all at once?', as the Torah, the Bible and the Book of Psalms [were]. God, exalted be He, says: We have revealed it, thus, in parts, [it is], that We may strengthen your inner-heart with it, and We have arranged it in a specific order, that is to say, We produce it in stages one part after another, gradually and deliberately, in order to facilitate its comprehension and its memorisation.
