ٱلْمُؤْمِنُون : ٦٨

  • أَفَلَمۡ Then, do not
  • يَدَّبَّرُواْ they ponder
  • ٱلۡقَوۡلَ the Word
  • أَمۡ or
  • جَآءَهُم has come to them
  • مَّا what
  • لَمۡ not
  • يَأۡتِ (had) come
  • ءَابَآءَهُمُ (to) their forefathers
  • ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ (to) their forefathers
Then have they not reflected over the word [i.e., the Qur’ān], or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers?
God, exalted be He, says: Have they not contemplated (yaddabbaroo should actually be yatadabbaroo, but the taa' has been assimilated with the daal) the discourse, namely, Al-Qur'an that is proof of the Prophet's sincerity, or has there come upon them that which has not come upon their forefathers?
