وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
أَخۡرَجَكُم
brought you forth
مِّنۢ
from
بُطُونِ
the wombs
أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡ
(of) your mothers
لَا
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
knowing
شَيۡـٔٗا
anything
وَجَعَلَ
and made
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلسَّمۡعَ
the hearing
وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ
and the sight
وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَ
and the hearts
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
give thanks
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
أَخۡرَجَكُم

from

the wombs
أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡ
(of) your mothers
لَا
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
knowing
شَيۡـٔٗا
anything
وَجَعَلَ
and made
لَكُمُ
for you
ٱلسَّمۡعَ
the hearing
وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ
and the sight
وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَ
and the hearts
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
give thanks

Translation

It is He Who brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers when ye knew nothing; and He gave you hearing and sight and intelligence and affections: that ye may give thanks (to Allah).

Tafsir

And God brought you forth from the bellies of your mothers while you did not know anything (the statement [laa ta'lamoona shay'an, 'while you did not know anything'] is a circumstantial qualifier), and He gave you hearing and sight and hearts that perhaps you might give thanks, to Him for this [gift] and become believers.
