إِبْرَاهِيم : ٥

وَلَقَدۡ And verily
أَرۡسَلۡنَا We sent
مُوسَىٰ Musa
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ with Our Signs
أَنۡ that
أَخۡرِجۡ Bring out
قَوۡمَكَ your people
مِنَ from
ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ the darkness[es]
إِلَى to
ٱلنُّورِ the light
وَذَكِّرۡهُم And remind them
بِأَيَّىٰمِ of the days
ٱللَّهِۚ (of) Allah
إِنَّ Indeed
فِي in
ذَٰلِكَ that
لَأٓيَٰتٖ surely (are) the signs
لِّكُلِّ for everyone
صَبَّارٖ patient
شَكُورٖ and thankful

And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], "Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days¹ of Allāh." Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

And verily We sent Moses with Our signs, the nine [signs], and We said to him: 'Bring forth your people, the Israelites, out of darkness, [out of] unbelief, into light, [into] faith, and remind them of the Days of God', of His graces. Surely in that, reminder, are signs for every man enduring, in obedience [to God], thankful, for [His] graces.

"Story of Musa and His People Allah says; وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَى بِأيَاتِنَا And indeed We sent Musa with Our Ayat (saying): Allah says here, `Just as We sent you (O, Muhammad) and sent down to you the Book, in order that you might guide and call all people out of darkness into the light, We also sent Musa to the Children of Israel with Our Ayat (signs, or miracles).' Mujahid said that this part of the Ayah refers to the nine miracles. أَنْ أَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ Bring out your people, he is being commanded; أَنْ أَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ Bring out your people from darkness into light, call them to all that is good and righteous, in order that they might turn away from the darkness of ignorance and misguidance they indulged in, to the light of guidance and the enlightenment of faith, وَذَكِّرْهُمْ بِأَيَّامِ اللّهِ and remind them of the annals (or days) of Allah, remind them (O Musa) of Allah's days, meaning, favors and bounties which He bestowed on them when He delivered them from the grip of Fir`awn and his injustice, tyranny and brutality. This is when Allah delivered them from their enemy, made a passage for them through the sea, shaded them with clouds, sent down manna and quails for them, and other favors and bounties. Mujahid, Qatadah and several others said this. Allah said next, إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لايَاتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ Truly, therein are Ayat for every patient, thankful (person). Allah says, `Our delivering of Our loyal supporters among the Children of Israel from the grasp of Fir`awn and saving them from the disgraceful torment, provides a lesson to draw from for those who are patient in the face of affliction, and thankful in times of prosperity. Qatadah said, ""Excellent is the servant who if he is tested, he observes patience, and if he is granted prosperity, he is thankful for it."" It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of Allah said, إِنَّ أَمْرَ الْمُوْمِنِ كُلَّهُ عَجَبٌ لَا يَقْضِي اللهُ لَهُ قَضَاءً إِلاَّ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ إِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ ضَرَّاءُ صَبَرَ فَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ سَرَّاءُ شَكَرَ فَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَه Verily, all of the matter of the believer is amazing, for every decision that Allah decrees for him is good for him. If an affliction strikes him, he is patient and this is good for him; if a bounty is give to him, he is thankful and this is good for him. Allah states: وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِهِ اذْكُرُواْ نِعْمَةَ اللّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ أَنجَاكُم مِّنْ الِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَاءكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءكُمْ And (remember) when Musa said to his people:""Call to mind Allah's favor to you, when He delivered you from Fir`awn's people who were afflicting you with horrible torment, and were slaughtering your sons and letting your women live; Allah states that Musa reminded his people about Allah's annals and days and of Allah's favors and bounties that He bestowed on them, when He saved them from Fir`awn and his people and the torment and disgrace they used to exert on them. They used to slaughter whomever they could find among their sons and let their females live. Allah delivered them from all this torment, and this is a great bounty, indeed. This is why Allah described this affliction, وَفِي ذَلِكُم بَلء مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ and in it was a tremendous trial from your Lord. `for He granted you (O Children of Israel) a great favor for which you are unable to perfectly thank Him.' Some scholars said that this part of the Ayah means, `what Fir`awn used to do to you was a tremendous بَلء (trial).' Both meanings might be considered here and Allah knows best. Allah said in another Ayah, وَبَلَوْنَـهُمْ بِالْحَسَنَـتِ وَالسَّيِّيَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ And We tried them with good and evil in order that they might turn (to Allah). (7:168) Allah's statement next وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed, means, proclaimed and made known His promise to you. It is possible that this Ayah means, your Lord has vowed and sworn by His might, grace and exaltness. Allah said in a similar Ayah, وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَـمَةِ And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly keep on sending against them (i.e. the Jews), till the Day of Resurrection. (7:167) Allah said, لَيِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَازِيدَنَّكُمْ If you give thanks, I will give you more; meaning, `if you appreciate My favor on you, I will give you more of it, وَلَيِن كَفَرْتُمْ but if you are thankless, if you are not thankful for My favors, covering and denying, then, إِنَّ عَذَابِي لَشَدِيدٌ verily, My punishment is indeed severe, by depriving you of the favor and punishing you for being unappreciative of it.' A Hadith states that, إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيُحْرَمُ الرِّزْقَ بِالذَّنْبِ يُصِيبُه A servant might be deprived of a provision (that was written for him) because of a sin that he commits. Allah said, وَقَالَ مُوسَى إِن تَكْفُرُواْ أَنتُمْ وَمَن فِي الَارْضِ جَمِيعًا فَإِنَّ اللّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌ And Musa said:""If you disbelieve, you and all on earth together, then verily, Allah is Rich (free of all needs), Worthy of all praise."" Allah does not need the gratitude of His servants, and He is worthy of all praise even if the disbelievers disbelieve in Him, إِن تَكْفُرُواْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنكُمْ If you disbelieve, then verily, Allah is not in need of you. (39:7) and, فَكَفَرُواْ وَتَوَلَّواْ وَّاسْتَغْنَى اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ غَنِىٌّ حَمِيدٌ So they disbelieved and turned away. But Allah was not in need (of them). And Allah is Rich (free of all needs), Worthy of all praise. (64:6) In his Sahih, Muslim recorded that Abu Dharr said that the Messenger of Allah said that his Lord the Exalted and Most Honored said, يَا عِبَادِي لَوْ أَنَّ أَوَّلَكُمْ وَاخِرَكُمْ وَإِنْسَكُمْ وَجِنَّكُمْ كَانُوا عَلَى أَتْقَى قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ مَا زَادَ ذَلِكَ فِي مُلْكِي شَيْيًا يَا عِبَادِي لَوْ أَنَّ أَوَّلَكُمْ وَاخِرَكُمْ وَإِنْسَكُمْ وَجِنَّكُمْ كَانُوا عَلَى أَفْجَرِ قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ مَا نَقَصَ ذَلِكَ فِي مُلْكِي شَيْيًا يَا عِبَادِي لَوْ أَنَّ أَوَّلَكُمْ وَاخِرَكُمْ وَإِنْسَكُمْ وَجِنَّكُمْ قَامُوا فِي صَعِيدٍ وَاحِدٍ فَسَأَلُونِي فَأَعْطَيْتُ كُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ مَسْأَلَتَهُ مَا نَقَصَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ مُلْكِي شَيْيًا إِلاَّ كَمَا يَنْقُصُ المِخْيَطُ إِذَا أُدْخِلَ الْبَحْر O My servants! If the first and the last among you, mankind and Jinns among you, had the heart of the most pious and righteous man among you, that will not increase my kingdom in the least. O My servants! If the first and the last among you, mankind and the Jinns among you, had the heart of the most wicked man among you, that will not decrease My kingdom in the least. O My servants! If the first and the last among you, the mankind and Jinns among you, stood in one flat area and each asked me (what they wish), and I gave each one of them what they asked, that will not decrease My kingdom except by that which the needle carries (of water) when inserted in the ocean."" Verily, all praise and glory are due to Allah, the Rich (free of need), the Worthy of all praise."

. Please see footnote on the first verse of this Surah. . The 'Days of Allah' here refers to the events of the past when Allah had graced some people with His favours and subjected some others to His punishment. ommentary The first verse cited above (5) mentions that Allah Ta’ ala sent Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) with His آیَات 'Ayat' (verses or signs) to bring his people out from the darkness of disbelief and disobedience into the light of faith and obedience. The word: آیَات (Ayat ) could mean the verses of the Torah for its very purpose was to spread the light of truth. آیَات 'Ayat' is at times used in the sense of miracles. At this place, this meaning could also apply for Allah Ta’ ala had particularly blessed Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) with nine miracles out of which the miracle of his staff turning into a snake and his hand becoming radiant have been mentioned at several places in the Qur’ an. If 'Ayat' is taken in the sense of miracles, it would mean that Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) was sent with such open miracles that no sane human being, once he had seen them, could ever go on sticking to his earlier denial and disobedience. A Subtle Point It will be noted that the word used in this verse is: قَوم (qawm) while asking Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) to bring his people from darkness into the light. But, when this very subject was taken up in the first verse of this particular Surah by addressing the Holy Prophet ﷺ ، the word: قَوم (qawm) was not used there. Instead, used there was the word: اَلنَّاس ( (an-nas) لِتُخْرِ‌جَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ‌: (that you may take the people [ that is, the human beings ] out of [ all sorts on darkness into the light). Implied here is the sense that the Divinely ordained mission of Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) as a prophet was only for his people, the Bani Isra'il, and for others in Egypt while the coming of the Holy Prophet ﷺ was destined for the human beings of the entire world. Then, it was said: وَذَكِّرْ‌هُم بِأَيَّامِ اللَّـهِ ' ) (and remind them of the days of Allah). 'The Days of Allah' The word: اَیِّام (ayyam) is the plural of yowm (day) which is well-known. The expression: (Ayyamullah) is used in two senses and both can be applied here. (1) Firstly, it could denote the particular days in which some war or revolution has occurred, for example, the battles of Badr, Uhud, Alihzab, Hunain and other events of this nature, or they may refer to major events when punishment overtook past communities which pulverized or destroyed nations and peoples known to be great and powerful. If so, the objective behind reminding these people of the 'Days of Allah' would be to warn them against the evil end of their disbelief. (2) "And remind them of 'the Days of Allah'" carries another meaning also, that is, the blessings and favours of Allah Ta` ala. In this case, re-minding them of these Days would be a form of constructive admonition which, when directed at someone basically good by reminding him of the favour done by his benefactor, would result in his being ashamed of his hostility and disobedience. The general pattern of the Qur’ anic method of reform is to tie a command given with relevant ways to act upon it which appear synchronized with it. Here, in the first sentence, Sayyidna Musa has been commanded to either recite the verses of Allah or show miracles to his people and bring them out from the darkness of disbelief into the light of faith. How would this be done? The sentences that follow give the method: There are two ways of bringing the disobedient ones to the right path: (1) Putting the fear of punishment in their hearts; (2) to remind them of Divine blessings and favours and to persuade them to take to being obedient to Allah. The sentence: وَذَكِّرْ‌هُم بِأَيَّامِ اللَّـهِ (and remind them of the Days of Allah) could mean both. If so, the sense would be that he should tell them about the evil fate of those who disobeyed from among the past communities, how punishment came upon them and how they were either killed in the Jihad or were disgraced. May be, by being so re-minded, they take a lesson and save themselves from it. Similar to this there are so many usual blessings of Allah Ta` ala which keep coming to them day and night, and also the special ones which were turned to-wards them in the hour of their need, for example, the shade of clouds over their heads in the wilderness of Tih (the desert of Sinai), the coming of Mann and Salva as food, the gushing forth of streams from stones when they needed water. So, they could be reminded of these and many other blessings of this nature and invited to believe in the Oneness of Allah and follow the path of obedience to Allah Ta’ ala. Said in the last sentence of the first verse (5) was إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ‌ شَكُورٍ‌ (Surely, there are signs therein for every man of patience and gratitude). Here, 'ayat' means signs and proofs. The word: (sabbar) is a form of exaggeration derived from: صَبر (sabr) which means very patient and much enduring, while the word: شَکُور (shakur) is a form of exaggeration derived from: شُکر (shukr) which means very grateful. The sentence means that the Days of Allah - that is, past events whether related to the punishment of the deniers of truth, or to the blessings and favours of Allah Ta’ ala - are full of the signs and proofs of the perfect power and eloquent wisdom of Allah Ta’ ala, particularly for a person who is much observing of patience and gratitude. The sense is that these open signs and proofs, though they are for the guidance of every observer, but certainly unfortunate are the disbelievers who just do not care to ponder over them and, as a result, remain deprived of the benefit they would have derived from them. People who really benefit from these signs and proofs are those who have combined in their person the best of patience and gratitude. The reference here is to true believers - as it appears in a narration of Sayyidna Anas ؓ carried by al-Baihaqi where the Holy Prophet ﷺ has been reported to have said: 'Iman is composed of two parts, half of it is patience and the other half, gratitude.' (Mazhari) Sayyidna ` Abdullah ibn Masud ؓ said: Sabr is the half of 'Iman. Based on a narration of Sayyidna Suhayb ؓ appearing in the Sahih of Muslim and the Musnad of Ahmad, the Holy Prophet ﷺ has been reported to have said: Every state of affairs for a true believer is nothing but good. This is a quality of life no one else has been blessed with. This is because a true believer, if he finds comfort, blessing, honour or recognition, shows his gratitude before Allah Ta’ ala for these which then be-comes a source of good for him both physically and spiritually (in the material world, the blessings Divinely promised increase, and abide, while in the world to come, the Hereafter, one receives the greatest of rewards for his or her gratitude). And, if a true believer is hit by pain or hard-ship, he observes patience against it. Because of his patience, that hard-ship turns into ease and comfort for him. In the present world, this hap-pens when the observers of patience are blessed with the company of Allah Ta’ ala as said in the Holy Qur'an: إِنَّ اللَّـهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِ‌ينَ ('Surely, Allah is with those who observe patience'- 8:46). And anyone who has Allah with him ultimately finds his hardship changed into comfort. As for the Here-after, we know that there the supreme reward for having observed patience is limitless with Allah Ta` ala, as said in the Holy Qur'an: إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُ‌ونَ أَجْرَ‌هُم بِغَيْرِ‌ حِسَابٍ (but then, paid in full to those who observe patience shall be their reward without reckoning - 39:10). To sum up, no state in which a true believer is can be called bad. It is good all along. A fall would make him rise again and when hit by hard-ships he would emerge stronger and more polished. So, 'Iman is a priceless asset which transforms even shocks of hard-ship into drafts of comfort. Sayyidna Abu Al-Darda' ؓ said that he had heard the Holy Prophet ﷺ say: 'Allah Ta` ala told Sayyidna ` Isa (علیہ السلام) : I am going to create a community after you who are such that if they have what they desire and things turn out the way they want them to, then, they would be grateful, and if they have to face an unpleasant situation, against their wish and pleasure, then, they would accept it as a source of reward from Allah, and would observe patience. And this wisdom and forbearance demonstrated by them would not be the outcome of their own personal wisdom and forbearance, rather, We shall be bestowing upon them a certain part of Our Own Wisdom and Forbearance. (Mazhari) The substance of the reality of gratitude (shukr) is that one should not spend out the blessings given by Allah Ta’ ala in what is Haram, in things which are not permitted, and in being disobedient to Him. One should also show gratitude by saying so as well, and by modeling and channelizing one's deeds in a manner that they would go on to become ac-cording to His good pleasure. And the substance of the reality of patience (sabr) is that we should not worry about what comes to be against our wishes, taste or temperament, and that we avoid being ungrateful in what we say or do; and that we keep hoping for the mercy of Allah Ta۔ ala in this mortal life too, and be certain of the great reward of patience due in the Hereafter as well. The second verse (6) carries details of what was said earlier, that is, when Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) was commanded to remind his people, the Bani Isra` il, of the particular Divine blessing which changed their lives. Before the coming of Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) ، they were living as slaves of the Pharaoh. Even as slaves, they were not treated humanely. Boys born among them were killed at birth. Only girls were left to survive and serve. After the appearance of Sayyidna Musa علیہ السلام ، such was his barakah that Allah Ta۔ ala had them delivered from the punishing clutches of the Pharaoh.

Tafsir Surat Ibrahim: 5 Dan sesungguhnya Kami telah mengutus Musa dengan membawa ayat-ayat Kami (dan Kami perintahkan kepadanya), "Keluarkanlah kaummu dari gelap gulita kepada cahaya terang benderang, dan ingatkanlah mereka kepada hari-hari Allah.” Sesungguhnya pada yang demikian itu terdapat tanda-tanda (kekuasaan Allah) bagi setiap orang penyabar dan banyak bersyukur. Allah menyebutkan dalam firman-Nya, "Sebagaimana Kami mengutusmu, hai Muhammad, dan Kami turunkan kepadamu Al-Qur'an agar kamu mengeluarkan semua manusia dari gelap gulita menuju terang benderang melalui seruanmu kepada mereka, begitu pula Kami telah mengutus Musa kepada Bani Israil dengan membawa ayat-ayat Kami." Mujahid mengatakan bahwa semua ayat itu berjumlah sembilan buah. “Keluarkanlah kaummu.” (Ibrahim: 5) Artinya, Kami perintahkan kepada Musa melalui firman Kami kepadanya: “Keluarkanlah kaummu dari gelap gulita kepada cahaya terang benderang.” (Ibrahim: 5) Yakni serulah mereka kepada kebaikan agar mereka dapat keluar dari kebodohan dan kesesatan yang selama itu mengungkung mereka dalam kegelapannya, menuju kepada cahaya petunjuk dan keimanan. “Dan ingatkanlah mereka kepada hari-hari Allah.” (Ibrahim: 5) Maksudnya, ingatkanlah mereka kepada pertolongan-pertolongan Allah dan nikmat-nikmat-Nya yang telah dilimpahkan kepada mereka, yaitu Allah telah membebaskan mereka dari cengkeraman Fir'aun, perbudakan, kezaliman, dan angkara murkanya; dan Allah telah menyelamatkan mereka dari musuh mereka, telah membelah laut buat mereka, memberikan naungan awan kepada mereka, menurunkan Manna dan Salwa kepada mereka, serta nikmat-nikmat lainnya. Demikianlah menurut cerita Mujahid, Qatadah, dan lain-lainnya yang bukan hanya seorang. Hal yang sama telah disebutkan di dalam sebuah hadis marfu' yang diriwayatkan oleh Abdullah ibnu Imam Ahmad ibnu Hambal di dalam kitab Musnad ayahnya. Di dalam kitab Musnad itu disebutkan: Telah menceritakan kepadaku Yahya ibnu Abdullah maula Bani Hasyim, telah menceritakan kepada kami Muhammad ibnu Aban Al-Ju'fi, dari Abu Ishaq, dari Sa'id ibnu Jubair, dari Ibnu Abbas, dari Ubay ibnu Ka'b, dari Nabi ﷺ sehubungan dengan makna firman Allah ﷻ: “Dan ingatkanlah mereka kepada hari-hari Allah.” (Ibrahim: 5) Bahwa yang dimaksud dengan hari-hari Allah ialah nikmat-nikmat Allah. Ibnu Jarir dan Ibnu Abu Hatim meriwayatkannya melalui hadis Muhammad ibnu Aban dengan sanad yang sama. Hadis ini diriwayatkan pula oleh anaknya (yaitu Abdullah ibnu Ubay ibnu Ka'b) secara mauquf, dan riwayat inilah yang lebih mendekati kepada kebenaran. Firman Allah ﷻ: “Sesungguhnya pada yang demikian itu terdapat tanda-tanda (kekuasaan Allah) bagi setiap orang penyabar dan banyak bersyukur.” (Ibrahim: 5) Yakni sesungguhnya dalam apa yang telah Kami perbuat kepada kekasih-kekasih Kami kaum Bani Israil ketika Kami selamatkan mereka dari cengkeraman Fir'aun dan dari siksaan yang menghinakan yang menindas mereka benar-benar terdapat pelajaran bagi setiap orang yang penyabar dalam menghadapi kesengsaraan, lagi bersyukur dalam keadaan makmur. Qatadah mengatakan, "Sebaik-baik hamba ialah orang yang apabila mendapat cobaan, bersabar; dan apabila diberi nikmat, bersyukur." Di dalam hadis sahih disebutkan bahwa Rasulullah ﷺ pernah bersabda: “Sesungguhnya perkara orang mukmin mengagumkan seluruhnya, tidak sekali-kali Allah memutuskan ketetapan baginya, melainkan hal itu baik baginya. Jika tertimpa musibah, ia bersabar; dan sabar itu adalah baik baginya. Apabila mendapat kesenangan, ia bersyukur; dan bersyukur itu adalah baik baginya.

SURAH IBRAAHIIM (NABI IBRAHIM A.S.) SURAH KE-14, 52 AYAT, DITURUNKAN DI MEKAH (AYAT 1-52) Dengan nama Allah Yang Maha Murah lagi Pengasih. “Alif Laam Raa" — Tentang artinya sudah banyak kita bicarakan pada surah-surah yang lain. “Inilah satu kitab yang Kami turnkan dia kepada engkau." (pangkal ayat 1) Yaitu inilah Kitab Al-Qur'an, sebagai wahyu dari Ilahi, diturunkan kepada engkau, ya Muhammad, Gunanya ialah “Supaya engkau keluarkan manusia dari gelap gulita kepada terang benderang Denganmemakai kitabini sebagai pedoman, berusahalah engkau mengeluarkan manusia daripada gelap gulita kejahilan, kerusakan akhlak, kezaliman dan terutama tidak mengenal Allah, tidak mempunyai pendirian dan tujuan hidup; dari kegelapan yang demikian itulah mereka supaya dikeluarkan menuju kepada terang benderang, kepada nur, cahaya petunjuk Ilahi. Cahaya pengetahuan, cahaya tauhid dan makrifat, mengenal diri dan mengenal Allah, mengenal jalan mana di dalam hidup ini yang akan ditempuh. Maka isi kitab yang diturunkan sebagai wahyu itu tidaklah akan ada manfaatnya kalau sekiranya Muhammad, Nabi yang telah dipilih buat menyebarkannya itu tidak mempunyai kekerasan hati buat menyampaikannya."Denganizin 7bhanmerek«."Di sini tersimpanlah inti wahyu Ilahi tentang kewajiban Muhammad dan janji dari Allah. Kewajiban Muhammad ﷺ ialah menyampaikan wahyu ini, sesampai-sampainya, dengan tidak mengenal bosan dan mesti selalu sabar. Adapun datangnya petunjuk atau keluarnya manusia dari gelap gulita kepada terang benderang, adalah dengan izin Allah jua. Karena Allah-lah Yang Maha Kuasa membuka hati manusia. Yang penting permulaan sekali ialah sikap hidup Muhammad yang akan menjadi teladan, supaya selaras dengan kehendak Al-Qur'an itu. Dia adalah laksana suatu mercu-suar untuk dijadikan teladan oleh manusia yang haus akan cahaya. Yaitu menuju “Kepada jalan (Tuhan) Yang Mahagagah, Maha Terpuji." (ujung ayat 1) Allah itu Mahagagah Perkasa menentukan jalannya. Jalan itu lurus, tidak boleh di-belokkan ke kiri dan ke kanan. Barangsiapa yang menyeleweng dari jalan itu akan dihukum oleh kegagahperkasaan Ilahi, celaka dia dalam perjalanan, baik sedang di atas dunia ataupun di akhirat. Dan Allah itu pun Maha Terpuji; karena Dia akan segera memberikan petunjuk dan bimbingan bagi barangsiapa yang menuruti jalan yang lurus itu. Dia akan lepas dari ruang yang gelap gulita dalam jiwa dan dalam budi. Dia akan diantarkan ke dalam suasana yang terang benderang dalam iman dan dalam hidup sehingga selamat dengan bimbingan Allah sendiri. Maka kufur adalah gelap dan iman adalah cahaya. Kegelapan adalah dalam jiwa yang ragu-ragu, yang tidak ada pendirian dan tidak ada bimbingan wahyu. Terang adalah dalam keyakinan. Terang adalah karena hidup disuluhi oleh petunjuk dan hidayah Allah. Tugas beliau ialah mengeluarkan manusia dari gelap kepada terang. Untuk seluruh ma-nusia, bukan semata-mata kaumnya saja. Gelap, ialah kejahilan dan terang ialah iman. Gelap ialah syirik, mempersekutukan yang lain dengan Allah, dan terang ialah tauhid; Mengakui tidak ada Tuhan melainkan Allah. Meskipun hari siang landang, bagi orang yang jiwanya gelap, atau otaknya gelap, sama sajalah keadaannya dengan malam. Maka tauhid itu adalah kecerdasan. Jalan yang terang itu ditempuh dengan izin Allah, artinya Allah-lah yang membuka jalan yang terang itu bagi hamba-hamba-Nya, yakni Allah Yang Mahagagah, lagi Maha Terpuji. Gagah Dia; sebab barangsiapa yang membelok dari jalan itu pasti dihukum-Nya dan Terpuji Dia. Sebab barangsiapa yang setia menuruti jalan itu akan diberi-Nya hidayah. “(Yaitu) Allah, yang kepunyaan-Nyalah apa yang di semua langit dan apa yang di bumi." (pangkal ayat 2) Untuk menjelaskan bagi manusia bahwa untuk selamatnya sendiri manusia, harus me-ngerti bahwa dia tidak akan selamat menempuh jalan yang lain, selain dari jalan yang digariskan Allah. Mengelak ke jalan yang lain tidak bisa, sebab semua Dia yang empunya. Baik yang di langit ataupun yang di bumi. Menentang kehendak Allah adalah pekerjaan sia-sia. “Dan kecelakaanlah bagi orang-orang yang tidak mau percaya, dari adzab yang bersangaian." (ujung ayat 2) Ayat yang selanjutnya kelak membuka rahasia apa yang menjadi sebab maka orang tidak mau percaya, mengapa maka orang mau jadi kufur, sehingga kelak mereka akan ditimpa celaka adzab yang bersangatan itu. “(Yaitu) orang-orang yang lebih mencintai akan hidup dunia ini melebihi akhirat, dan yang menghambat akan jalan Allah." (pangkal ayat 3) Kehidupan dunia ini terlalu mengikat hatinya, sehingga seluruh tenaga dan pikirannya hanya ditujukannya untuk dunia. Tidak dijadikannya kesempatan di dunia itu untuk kebahagiaannya di belakang hari, di akhirat. Boleh jadi ada juga kepercayaannya kepada Aliah, tetapi amat lemah karena rayuan hidup. Oleh sebab itu buruk dan baik baginya hanyalah diukur dengan kepentingan dirinya sendiri dalam keduniaan itu. Mungkin dia suka berbuat yang baik, tetapi hanya sekedar buat mencari pujian keduniaan. Menempuh jalan Allah yang sungguh-sungguh dia tidak mau, karena itu akan merugikan bagi dunianya, malahan kalau dunianya akan rugi, dia tidak keberatan menghambat dan menghalangi jalan Allah itu. Kemudian bila bertambah dia lupa akan hari akhirat dan bertambah sombongnya penghalangannya kepada jalan Allah itu akan bertambah lagi."Dan yang mau supaya dia bengkok." Artinya dia mulai berusaha supaya orang yang menempuh jalan yang benar itu berhenti dari kebenaran, dan menuruti kehendaknya. Tinggalkan jalan itu dan turuti jalannya yang sesat! “Itulah orang-orang yang di dalam kesesatan yang jauh." (ujung ayat 3) Artinya kian lama dia kian jauh dari jalan yang benar. Sebab pembelokan sedikit saja, walaupun satu titik kecil di permulaan langkah, akibat ujungnya sudahlah sangat jauh dari tujuan bermula, dan hanyutlah dia tidak dapat dipanggil kembali lagi. “Dan tidaklah Kami mengutus akan seorang Rasul melainkan dengan bahasa kaumnya, supaya dia jelaskan kepada mereka." (pangkal ayat 4) Nabi Muhammad adalah salah seorang dari rasul-rasul itu, dan dia diutus untuk seluruh manusia, seperti yang disebut pada ayat 1 tadi. Tetapi karena yang mula sekali didatanginya dari antara seluruh manusia itu ialah kaumnya kaum Quraisy yang memakai bahasa Arab, maka dengan bahasa Arab itulah beliau diutus, dan dengan bahasa Arab itulah AI-Qur'an diturunkan."Supaya dia jelaskan kepada mereka." Dan setelah mendengar penjelasan wahyu dalam bahasa mereka itu, sampai seterang-terangnya, mudahlah kelak menyebarkan bahasa itu kepada bangsa bangsa yang berbahasa lain. Karena maksud ialah menggali isinya yang penuh cahaya itu. “Maka disesatkan oleh Allah siapa yang Dia kehendaki dan diberi-Nya petunjuk siapa yang Dia kehendaki. Dan Dia adalah Maha Gagah, Maha Bijaksana." (ujung ayat 4) Dengan sambungan firman Allah itu, hilanglah kemusykilan setengah orang. Yaitu kalau memang Nabi Muhammad ﷺ itu diutus untuk seluruh manusia mengapa Al-Qur'an tidak diturunkan dalam segala bahasa, mengapa kebetulan bahasa Arab yang dipentingkan. Kalau sekiranya wahyu dalam permulaan turunnya itu, yang diserahkan menyampaikannya kepada seorang Rasul dari satu bangsa, yaitu bangsa Arab dan bahasa Arab, diwahyukan dalam berbagai bahasa, niscaya pecahlah pimpinan. Perkara bahasa bahkan sampai kepada zaman kita sekarang ini masih saja menjadi soal musykil dalam beberapa negara. Kalau Nabi Muhammad ﷺ, diutus untuk seluruh dunia dengan memakai bahasa kaumnya, yaitu bahasa Arab, adalah hal itu soal yang sewajarnya bagi kesatuan umat yang dipimpinnya. Umat itu yang wajib mencari dia dan mengikut dia, tidak dia yang mesti berpusing-pusing mempelajari terlebih dahulu bahasa Persia, bahasa India, bahasa Spanyol, bahasa Romawi, bahasa Ibrani dan lain-lain yang ada pada masa itu. Tetapi dalam kenyataan langkah kemajuan Islam, bahasa Arab itulah yang merata ke seluruh dunia sebagai bahasa kesatuan dari satu agama, yang di zaman sekarang tidak kurang dari 900 juta pemeluknya. Menjadi suatu bahasa yang bersifat internasional. Maka Allah sesatkan barangsiapa yang Dia kehendaki, walaupun dia orang Arab dan memakai bahasa Arab, dan diberi-Nya petunjuk siapa yang Dia kehendaki, walaupun bahasa aslinya bukan bahasa Arab. Dari zaman ke zaman muncul orang-orang yang diberi petunjuk oleh Allah dengan Al-Qur'an bahasa Arab itu, bahasa Nabi Muhammad ﷺ, walaupun mereka bukan asli orang Arab. Kita sebut saja yang terdekat di tanah Indonesia ini seumpama Syekh Nawawi Banten, Syekh Abdush Shamad Palembang, Syekh Ahmad Khathib Minangkabau, semua itu adalah ulama Islam bangsa Indonesia di abad-abad kedelapan belas dan sembilan belas, menyebarkan karangan mereka tentang Islam dalam bahasa Arab, itulah bukti bahwa Allah memang Mahagagah, sehingga dengan kekuat-an-Nya sendiri dibela-Nya bahasa itu 14 abad sampai sekarang, dan Mahabijaksana, sehingga rahmat keimanan itu dilimpahkan-Nya pula ke seluruh bangsa manusia yang percaya kepada risalah Muhammad, baik Arab, atau Ajam, atau Hindi, atau Indonesia; Alhamdulillah. “Dan sesungguhnya telah Kami utus Musa dengan ayat-ayat Kami." (pangkal ayat 5) Ayatini sebagai rangkaian dari ayatsebelum-nya, bahwa Muhammad diutus dengan memakai bahasa kaumnya, maka dahulu dari dia pun Allah telah mengutus pula Nabi Musa, niscaya dengan lidah kaumnya pula, dan membawa tanda-tanda, ayat-ayat atau mukjizat. Maksud kedatangan Musa itu pun sama dengan maksud kedatangan Muhammad sebagai tersebut pada ayat 1, yaitu “Bahwa engkau keluarkan kaum engkau dari gelap gulita kepada terang benderang." Gelap gulita penindasan Fir'aun kepada kebebasan dan penindasan menyembah Allah Yang Maha Esa, Gelap gulita perbudakan dan penghinaan menjadi kaum yang bebas merdeka di bawah pimpinan nabinya sendiri. Karena memandang manusia atau benda yang lain sebagai Tuhan yang berkuasa pula di samping Allah adalah suatu kegelapan dalam jiwa, yang wajib diganti dengan terang benderang ruhari: “Dan peringat-kanlah mereka dengan hari-hari Allah." Hari-hari Allah ialah suka duka yang telah ditempuh dalam kehidupan, masa pasang naik dan pasang turun, masa penindasan dan kelepasan dari penindasan itu. Berapa banyak yang telah ditempuh oleh Bani Israil, sejak dari masa masih dalam perbudakan di Mesir sampai kepada terlepas dari belahnya lautan di Laut Qulzum, sampai ke seberang dan percobaan iman karena perdayaan Samiri yang menipu menyuruh menyembah berhala ‘Ijil. Bagaimana pula Allah menurunkan Taurat-Nya untuk mengatur kehidupan mereka, baik dalam urusan agama ataupun dalam urusan masyarakat. Suka dan duka Ayyamillah atau Hari-hari Allah ini perlu diingat; supaya di waktu senang jangan sampai lupa daratan. “Sesungguhnya pada yang demikian adalah tanda-tanda bagi tiap-tiap orang yang sabar, lagi bersyukur." (ujung ayat 5)
