كِتَٰبٌ
A Book
أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ
which We have revealed
إِلَيۡكَ
to you
لِتُخۡرِجَ
so that you may bring out
ٱلنَّاسَ
the mankind
مِنَ
from
ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ
the darkness[es]
إِلَى
to
ٱلنُّورِ
the light
بِإِذۡنِ
by the permission
رَبِّهِمۡ
(of) their Lord
إِلَىٰ
to
صِرَٰطِ
the Path
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
(of) the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَمِيدِ
the Praiseworthy
الٓرۚ

Translation

A. L. R. A Book which We have revealed unto thee, in order that thou mightest lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light - by the leave of their Lord - to the Way of (Him) the Exalted in power, worthy of all praise!-

Tafsir

Ibrahim (Prophet Abraham may peace be upon him) Meccan, except for the two verses 28 and 29, which are Medinese; it consists of 52, 54 or 55 verses. Alif laam raa': God knows best what He means by these [letters]. This Qur'aan is, a Book We have revealed to you, O Muhammad may peace and salutation be upon him, that you may bring forth mankind from darkness, [from] unbelief, into light, [into] faith, by the leave, by the command, of their Lord (ilaa'l-noor, 'into light', may be substituted by [the following ilaa siraat]), to the path, the way, of the Mighty, the Victor, the Praised, the One who is [constantly] praised.
