يُوسُف : ٩٦

  • فَلَمَّآ Then when
  • أَن [that]
  • جَآءَ arrived
  • ٱلۡبَشِيرُ the bearer of glad tidings
  • أَلۡقَىٰهُ he cast it
  • عَلَىٰ over
  • وَجۡهِهِۦ his face
  • فَٱرۡتَدَّ then returned (his) sight
  • بَصِيرٗاۖ then returned (his) sight
  • قَالَ He said
  • أَلَمۡ Did not
  • أَقُل I say
  • لَّكُمۡ to you
  • إِنِّيٓ indeed, I
  • أَعۡلَمُ [I] know
  • مِنَ from
  • ٱللَّهِ Allah
  • مَا what
  • لَا not
  • تَعۡلَمُونَ you know
And when the bearer of good tidings1 arrived, he cast it over his face, and he returned [once again] seeing. He said, "Did I not tell you that I know from Allāh that which you do not know?"

Then, when (fa-lammaa an: an is extra) the bearer of good tidings, Judah, came, with the shirt - he had [been the one who] brought the blood-stained shirt, and so now he wished to bring him joy, after he had [previously] brought him grief - he laid it, he cast the shirt, on his face and he regained his sight. He said, 'Did I not say to you, "Indeed I know from God what you do not know?" '
