(to) his son
وَكَانَ

مَعۡزِلٖ
apart
يَٰبُنَيَّ
O my son
ٱرۡكَب
Embark
مَّعَنَا
with us
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَكُن
be
مَّعَ
with
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
وَهِيَ
And it
تَجۡرِي
sailed
بِهِمۡ
with them
فِي
on
مَوۡجٖ
the waves
كَٱلۡجِبَالِ
like mountains
وَنَادَىٰ
and Nuh called out
نُوحٌ
and Nuh called out
ٱبۡنَهُۥ
(to) his son
وَكَانَ
and he was
فِي
[in]
مَعۡزِلٖ
apart
يَٰبُنَيَّ
O my son
ٱرۡكَب
Embark
مَّعَنَا
with us
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَكُن
be
مَّعَ
with
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers

Translation

So the Ark floated with them on the waves (towering) like mountains, and Noah called out to his son, who had separated himself (from the rest): "O my son! embark with us, and be not with the unbelievers!"

Tafsir

And it sailed with them amid waves like mountains, in terms of their height and size, and Noah called out to his son, Canaan, who was standing away, from the ship, 'O my son, embark with us and do not be with the disbelievers!'
