Translation

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,

Tafsir

Al-Humaza (the Backbiter) Meccan or Medinese, consisting of 9 verses. Woe (waylun: an expression implying chastisement) to every backbiter, [who is a] slanderer, frequently engaging in backbiting and slander, that is to say, defamation - this was revealed regarding those who slandered the Prophet may peace and salutation be upon him and the believers, the likes of Umayya ibn Khalaf, al-Waleed ibn al-Mugheera and others -
