An-Nisa': 24

Ayah

Word by Word
وَٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتُ
And (prohibited are) the ones who are married
مِنَ
of
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the women
إِلَّا
except
مَا
whom
مَلَكَتۡ
you possess
أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡۖ
rightfully
كِتَٰبَ
Decree
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡۚ
upon you
وَأُحِلَّ
And are lawful
لَكُم
to you
مَّا
what
وَرَآءَ
(is) beyond
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
that
أَن
that
تَبۡتَغُواْ
you seek
بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُم
with your wealth
مُّحۡصِنِينَ
desiring to be chaste
غَيۡرَ
not
مُسَٰفِحِينَۚ
(to be) lustful
فَمَا
So what
ٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم
you benefit[ed]
بِهِۦ
of it
مِنۡهُنَّ
from them
فَـَٔاتُوهُنَّ
so you give them
أُجُورَهُنَّ
their bridal due
فَرِيضَةٗۚ
(as) an obligation
وَلَا
And (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
sin
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
on you
فِيمَا
concerning what
تَرَٰضَيۡتُم
you mutually agree
بِهِۦ
of it
مِنۢ
from
بَعۡدِ
beyond
ٱلۡفَرِيضَةِۚ
the obligation
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
كَانَ
is
عَلِيمًا
All-Knowing
حَكِيمٗا
All-Wise

Translation

Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess: Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) against you: Except for these, all others are lawful, provided ye seek (them in marriage) with gifts from your property,- desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that ye derive benefit from them, give them their dowers (at least) as prescribed; but if, after a dower is prescribed, agree Mutually (to vary it), there is no blame on you, and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
